Back in 1803, Thomas Douglas, the 5th Earl of Selkirk used his inheritance to assist displaced highland farmers from Scotland’s Isle of Skye to immigrate to Belfast, Prince Edward Island. Their descendants are living a vibrant rural life today over two hundred years after their forefathers. Belfast, as you will see, has stunning coastlines and breathtaking landscapes, and a magical beauty comparable to anywhere in the world. It also is home to PEI's Oldest Lighthouse and St Johns Presbyterian Church the oldest original standing structure which is still an active parish today.
Experience Eastern PEI where you get to experience rural life and what it is like to live on Prince Edward Island year-round, and our relevant industries like farming, fishing, and tourism. And who can visit "Food Island " without a snack provided by our Country Taste Kitchen a Rural Bakery whose fields in late May/early June are full of tulips where you can walk and take a picture during this time of the year. (fee for this is not included as it is only for a one month span)
